About Candace Dale Mckenzie:Candace Dale Mckenzie, CA & GA Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, earned her master's degree in clinical psychology from Antioch University in Los Angeles, CA, and later served as a clinician with Vista Del Mar Family Services supporting issues surrounding Neurodevelopmental Disorders, Trauma, Gender Dysphoria, Anxiety , Mood, Oppositional and Conduct Disorders. She later expanded her clinical knowledge by joining the group practices of Dr. David Plotkin and Associates (affiliated with the UCLA Anxiety Program) emphasizing CBT, DBT, ACT and ERP for Panic Disorders, OCD, Generalized Anxiety Disorders, Major Depressive, Bipolar, Borderline Personality, Substance Use and Eating Disorders, as well as Family and Relational Issues.Through previous clinical experiences , Candace has been able to cultivate her passion to help those in need and create her current community advocacy role as the Director of Outreach and Referral Coordination for Galen Hope.

Join me as I interview Registered Dietitian, Nicole McLaurin, RD, LD/N, on the series Recovery Solutions as we talk about Eating Disorders, Addiction and Nutrition.
About Nicole McLaurin: Nicole received her Bachelor of Science degree in Food and Nutrition Sciences from Florida State University. Following graduation, she completed the Florida Department of Health Dietetic Internship, a 1250 hour program that includes rotations in clinical, public health and food service nutrition roles. After her internship, she passed her Registered Dietitian exam and became licensed to practice nutrition in the state of Florida.
Nicole has been working in substance abuse and mental health nutrition counseling since 2017. She specializes in educating patients on Intuitive Eating, a way of eating to nourish the body with a non-restrictive approach. Her goal for all patients is to help them make peace with food while also establishing a routine with their dietary patterns that helps support their journey throughout recovery. Nicole is also experienced managing eating disorders, creating individualized meal plans and addressing nutrition related medical conditions.

It’s important to recognize that each person’s response to trauma is unique, and understanding and compassion are crucial in supporting individuals who have experienced trauma.

About Ashley Zarmanian:Ashley is a licensed mental health professional and has been in the field for 15 years. In graduate school, she worked on treatment planning and behavioral interventions, as well as volunteering for a mobile crisis unit, serving individuals in high risk situations. She went on in her career working in substance abuse treatment for 8 years at a dual diagnosis facility. There, she worked on specializing skills in family work, intervention, treating process addictions, and treating personality disorders. She developed a specific passion for working with individuals struggling with eating disorders and body image. In private practice, Ashley has continued her education to develop expertise in treating individuals with substance use disorders and their family members, eating disorders, body image issues, and trauma. Ashley prides herself on doing the in depth work of therapy, beginning with formative and family of origin experiences and treating the whole patient from a place of compassion, empathy, and therapeutic confrontation.

Join Psychiatrist Dr. Aldo Morales and me  on the Recovery Solutions series on “What Doctors Know About Addiction?” About Dr. Aldo MoralesDr. Aldo Morales hails from Havana, Cuba. He has been practicing medicine in Palm Beach and Broward counties for the last thirty years, promoting the message that addiction is a treatable medical condition rather than a moral failing. His interest in psychopharmacology started during his undergraduate work at Rutgers College of Pharmacy. After obtaining his medical degree he did a four-year Psychiatry residency at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School before relocating to South Florida.Dr. Morales is Board Certified in Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry. He is a Charter Member of the American Board of Addiction Medicine as well as a Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM). He is on the faculty at Florida Atlantic University, Schmidt College of Medicine, where he has been instrumental in the introduction of addiction into the medical school curriculum. He has been a consultant to various State agencies as well as to Major League Baseball and has been the medical director of several rehabilitation facilities. He is also a member of the contractor team for Next Level Recovery Associates Inc.
